U.S. Congress
Rob Hubler is running for the U.S. House of Representatives against Steve King. He was born in Kansas, moved to Council Bluffs in 1950, and went to high school at Abraham Lincoln High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for seven years, starting in 1962.
After his honorable discharge Rob enrolled at Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. During his college years he became friends with Dick Clark, then a candidate for the U.S. Senate, and Tom Harkin, running for the first time for Congress in the Fifth District. Rob served as Western Iowa Coordinator for both of their campaigns in 1972.
Rob’s two focuses for the election are Veteran’s issues and Agriculture Policy in relation to wind and ethanol renewable energy. “This is a critical election.”
Since 1980, 83% of the winners in elections were those that had the most money. Therefore, every issue is used to raise money for the election by dividing people so they contribute to the issue. To get congressional representatives to work together will require campaign reform. Rob said that “Elected officials need to look to the common good of the country instead of the good of their own districts.
